Getting ready for Digital Overload
2008-03-02 12:30:01 - by Tim

Registration for Digital Overload is now closed. Also any updated account information from here on out will not be reflected at the event. So I hope you all logged in and made sure your information was up to date, check-in goes as smoothly as possible!

You can still get a Spectator badge at the door for $20, which will allow you to come in an hang out at the event, but not enter/exit with any bags or equipment, and not participate in any tournaments, raffles or giveaways. You still have to be over 16 and need to bring a government issue photo ID, and you will still need to sign the event waiver. If you are under 18, have your parent/guardian sign it and bring it with you to the event.

We're less than a week away from the event, so please take a moment to read over this short list that will help you prepare.

1) Read the Recommended Read page
2) Read the Offical FAQs.
3) Pack your stuff safely.
4) Make sure you bring enough cash to EAT as well as sleep.
5) Hash your DC++ Files.
6) Secure/Scan/Clean your PC (antivirus, spyware removal, etc). Don't bring a virus sick computer to a healthy network.
7) Go over your packing list.... at least 5 times.
8) Go over it again, and realize you almost forgot your power strip, and pack that.
9) Remember that Dicion will choke anyone who daisy chains power strips.
10) Remember it well....
11) Print out a map of the immediate area surrounding the Conv Center, that way you wont get easily lost. If you can, see if you can get a map of the whole area somewhere. Getting lost in a strange town sucks, and Providence can be strange.
12)SET STEAM/OTHER GAMING APPS TO OFFLINE MODE
THERE WILL BE NO INTERNET ACCESS AT THE EVENT.
(If I could make that above line flash violently, I would).
13) Bring a good attitude. Bad Attitudes will be checked at the door.
14) Have Fun

The Event Schedule and the Event Floorplan have been posted in the forums.

Two weeks out, last call!
2008-02-20 22:23:19 - by Tim

Digital Overload is just two weeks away now.

We've got a lot of deadlines coming up. February 29th is the last day to register for Digital Overload.

Additionally, we want to remind everyone to log into their accounts before the 29th and make sure their equipment information is up-to-date. If your information is current, when you get to the registration desk at the event, it will go much quicker and you'll get into the event faster. After the 29th you will not be able to edit your account information, so get that updated now.

You do need your signed waiver and a photo ID with you when you check-in at the event, no exceptions. Attendees under 18 need their waiver signed by a parent/guardian, so get that done and bring it with you.

The waitlist for the Halo 3 tournament is pretty sizeable, so we're going to try and expand the size of the tournament, or possibly increase it to a 4v4 tournament. I'll have more information soon.

Hotel rate almost over
2008-02-13 14:29:54 - by Tim

The Digital Overload rate for the Hilton of $135 a night will expire on Monday the 18th. Additionally, there aren't many rooms left in the block, so it would be a good idea to book your room this week if you haven't yet.

BAWLS. Hehe...
2008-02-08 14:09:01 - by Tim

Due to catering restrictions at the Rhode Island Convention center, our vendors are not allowed to sell outside food or beverages at the event. But don't worry, Game Overdrive has you covered!

You can order cases of BAWLS from them and these guys will deliver it directly to your hotel room at the event (or you can pick it up if you're commuting). They've been doing this for the past couple of years, and it always seems to work out pretty well.

So if you don't have any BAWLS of your own, and you really want to get some BAWLS, so you can put some BAWLS in your mouth, Game Overdrive will sell you some BAWLS and deliver it to your hotel room, where you can do whatever you want with your newly purchased BAWLS.

We`re only a month away now!
2008-02-05 20:10:58 - by Tim

Believe it or not, Digital Overload 2008 is only 30 days away now.

Registration will remain open for the remainder of the month, with badges at $55. However at the end of the month, registration ends, so this is your last chance to register for the event. And tournaments are filling up fast, so the sooner you register, the better.

If you are planning to pay by snail mail, the cut-off date to have your payments in is the 20th of February. That means that we will not be accepting any snail mail payments after February 20th. Since it can take up to a week for a snail mail payment to arrive, I suggest you get that sent out by the 15th.

If you registered and paid before January 1st, you are eligible for priority check-in at the event. As long as you are in the priority check-in line before doors open at 6pm on Friday the 7th, you will be amongst the first to get your badges and get into the hall to set up. We'll have some more specifics as the event approaches.

Registration for Project: Assassination is now open, located with the tournament sign-ups. Space for this game, as with all of our tournaments, is limited, and only registered, paid attendees can sign up.

We'll be having live music at the event for the first time ever. Saturday night, The Konami Kode is going to rock out with some video game tunes for attendees to enjoy.

We will be raffling off and selling (at a discount) a lot of SUMO chairs at the end of the event on Sunday, so keep some free room when you pack your cars in case you want to take one home!

So tell your friends to hurry up and register. We will be offering spectator passes at the door, however spectators are not permitted to enter/exit the hall with any equipment, or participate in any raffles, contests or tournaments. So get signed up for a full badge to take advantage of all of the cool activities!
